This advanced trauma class will cover several aspects of injury assistance including bleeding control, airway procedures, and stabilization techniques. We’ll use both classroom style learning as well as interactive learning to practice each technique. Bleeding control will include wound packing, tourniquets, and pressure dressings. Airway procedures will include nasopharyngeal airways and chest wounds. Stabilization techniques will include slings and stabilization as well as stitching. All materials and tools for practicing will be included and handouts will be available for most techniques so you can continue practicing on your own. Handouts will also include a materials list so you can see exactly what we use in the class. These techniques are not meant to be used in public spaces where hospitals are available and are purely for your own knowledge and entertainment. While you will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the class, you are NOT certified to perform any of these procedures on the public. Meredith Russell is a US Army Medic with over 18 years experience. She has been leading and teaching classes for over 20 years and enjoys sharing knowledge with others. Continuing education is incredibly important, especially for skills that are not daily use.
