Saturday, June 18, 2011 Session
Instructed by Sensei Wu Chin

Open to ADTA members, guests of ADTA members, and the public.
Preregistration is required.  Maximum of 20 participants on a first-paid basis.

Conducted June 18, 2011, 9:00am to 12:00pm (3 hours).
31919 6th Ave S, Professional Center, Bldg 2, Federal Way, WA

This is a light-contact physical seminar open to people of all capabilities and skill levels.  Spouses and families are welcome to register as well.  Come dressed in your everyday clothes; no special preparation required.  There will be no throws or similar risks to participants; this is a introduction and light contact session only.  CPL holders: please do not bring firearms to this session, as there will be light physical contact between participants.

Being ready for self-defense involves awareness, readiness, and knowing how you can move to your own best advantage to escape from or to end a threat.  Every day you have your mind, your body, your hands, and your legs with you -- learn how to use them effectively in this informative, interactive seminar great for beginners to intermediates alike.  Wu has years of teaching experience and readily adapts his course content to the skill and comfort levels of the participants.  You'll be amazed at the effectiveness of simple defensive moves that you'll learn and take away from this class.

We'll cover as much material as we have time for, at the participants' choice of pace, potentially including:

1. Mental preparedness - the fight or flight decision.

2. Developing your natural weapons.

3. Understanding foot work and body position.

4. Recognizing high-value targets and how to hit them.

5. Non-threatening, apparently-passive defensive stances for quick engagement

6. Scenarios defense and counters

7. Introduction to simple takedowns

8. Defense against sticks and similar weapons.

9. Defense against knives.

10. Using improvised weapons you carry everyday: cellphones, ministicks, keys.

It'll be a fast-paced and educational two hours.  This event is open to ADTA members as well as ADTA member guests (separate registration and seminar fee required) and the public.
