VENUE:  American Legion Hall Post 127, Woodinville, WA 98072

Event Description:

Police Agencies have come up with what is known as the Tueller Drill, also known as the 21-foot rule. It was determined that 21 feet was the bare minimum distance that a police officer could draw his firearm from the holster and shoot his opponent before getting stabbed with a knife.

For an armed citizen 21 feet might not be enough distance depending on the clothing you’re wearing and how deeply concealed your firearm is. You might need 30 feet or even 40 feet depending on the situation. In this workshop we will cover all of the variables and contingencies to hopefully give you an edge (no pun intended) if you’re ever confronted with a knife wielding attacker. I'm a firm believer that hand to hand defensive tactics should be your first line of defense if you are ever assaulted with a knife or any contact weapon when an assailant is too close to you to draw your gun. We will be using SIRT Laser pistols and rubber training knives for this event.

Important information:

  • ADTA Range Safety Officers (RSOs) will be present to check you in at the door.
  • If you normally carry a firearm, you are welcome to do so at this event.

  • Loaded carry firearms must remain holstered -- no exceptions.
  • If you bring a firearm to show to the group, or want to participate in our hands-on exercises, our Range Safety Officers will help you safely unload and clear your firearm at the door.
  • Have a question about ADTA membership, events, or activities? Many ADTA members are available both before and after the presentation to help. Just look for our members wearing ADTA hats, shirts, or vests.
