The Principals of Point Shooting

At our last ADTA shoot at West Coast Armory North we were all very impressed with how ADTA instructor John Battista was able to rapidly fire 5 rounds into a target at 7 yards and fire a sub-2 inch group in about 2 seconds without looking at his sights.

John studied Point Shooting under the guidance of Jim Gregg. John went on to say, "At the most lethal ranges, the time you take lining up sights will not be enough. You have to trust your instincts. Our muscles have memory built into them, and with proper physical tuning accuracy at close ranges without use of the sites is possible, even to the level of making multiple rounds "touch" on target."

John will be teaching these techniques at this ADTA North Chapter meeting. John will be talking about Jim Gregg's class, what was learned from it, and how he shot an entire match without a front site.

We will be using Cert Laser Training Pistols for this workshop. Our ADTA shoot on the following Wednesday (March 2nd) will incorporate some of the drills and that were covered in the class.

Here is a link to Jim Gregg’s website with a YouTube video demonstrating the principles of p
oint shooting. http://jimgregg.net/

Jim Gregg's "The Gregg Method of Fire Control" book is available for purchase at his website.
