Presentation and Accuracy Under Pressure

VENUEFederal Way Indoor Range

When in a pressure cooker situation, you may not have the luxury of being able to present and shoot from the classical stances and two handed positions.  Shooters should come prepared to be drilled in point shooting, intense grip, Center Axis Re-lock techniques, along with experimenting with modified support hand grip, and mag changes under pressure.

You will learn the pros and cons of these techniques so you can adopt them for your own use or just to be aware of them.  Bring a coat or jacket for drills on presentation from holster utilizing the skills learned.

For this ADTA live event, we'll be including scored exercises that you can use to track your own progress and skill improvement throughout 2016 -- we hope to see you at all of our ADTA member shoots to keep your skills current and practiced!

Space is limited and online preregistration and payment are required; you must be a current annual, charter, or monthly ADTA member to participate in live-fire events.

If you are comfortable with safely handling and shooting your semiautomatic handgun, we welcome you to participate in this live-fire event appropriate for a broad range of skill levels.

If you need a little more time to practice with your handgun to get comfortable with it, or to be able to reliable hit your target, we encourage you to reach out to us and arrange one-on-one time with an ADTA Mentor prior to this event.

ADTA Mentor Program

  1. Must be an Annual Member to participate with an ADTA Mentor.

  2. Reach out for a mentor at the workshops, or e-mail us at membership@armeddefense.org.

  3. All ADTA Mentors are ADTA Range Safety Officers.

  4. Your ADTA Mentor will schedule directly with you, to agree upon a time to meet at a local shooting range.

  5. You will be responsible for the range and ammunition costs (typically $40 to $50 per mentoring session).

In addition to your eye and ear protection, all participants need to bring their own semiautomatic handgun, strong-side muzzle-down belt holster, at least two magazine belt pouches, at least two magazines, and 100 to 150 rounds of ammunition.  Optional: a tactical flashlight.

If you do not yet have the appropriate equipment, let us know at any of our upcoming workshops, and we can help direct you to appropriate sources and materials you can purchase before the event.

Please arrive with your firearm unloaded and cased; event staff will direct you where and when to uncase and transfer your unloaded firearm to your holster.

If you have a CPL and normally carry, you may arrive with your firearm loaded and holstered.  Event staff will direct you where and when to unload and reholster your (unloaded) firearm at the start of the event.

We run a cold range, with firearms unloaded and holstered until you are on the firing line and instructed to load.

  • Do not touch or handle any gun until you are at the firing line and instructed to load.
  • All guns must be unloaded and holstered or cased unless you are on the firing line.
  • OK to handle and load magazines but do not insert into the gun.
