Presented by the ADTA.

Preregistration is required to participate.  ADTA membership is required to participate and may take up to three (3) days to process a membership application, so plan ahead.  Click here to start your application process.  We cannot accept registrations or payment at the door for this event.

This event will include a series of drills focused on skill-building in:

  • Accuracy
  • Alternate firing hands
  • Alternate firings positions
  • Use of concealment
  • Hand-to-hand engagement (This last drill culminates with hitting pads to simulate close quarter self-defense, then engaging the target. In this drill you will experience how physical exertion and adrenaline affects target acquisition and accuracy.)

By agreement with Federal Way Indoor Range, ADTA books out use of both of FWIR's Tactical Bays for our members' exclusive use during this event.  ADTA Member-Instructors and ADTA Range Safety Officers manage the event, helping everyone have fun, learn something new, challenge themselves, and stay safe.

This event is dynamic and flexible, with exercises tailored to the attendees.  We usually use the first hour of the event for group practice, and reserve the second hour for unique down-range exercises and practice over and above what you can regularly do at the range.

With two connected but separate bays to work with, we'll help you work at whichever skill level you're most comfortable.  You're welcome to move between bays and exercises during the event.

Please bring your semiautomatic pistol of choice, at least two magazines for your pistol, sturdy belt and belt holster for your pistol and a magazine belt pouch for your pistol.   A hard-sided holster (vs. soft-sided) works best for range work. You'll also need 100 to 200 rounds of ammunition, eye protection, ear protection, and a hat with a brim (strongly recommended).   Optional: A small flashlight to use in low/no light drills.

If you prefer to shoot a revolver, please bring at least two speedloaders with belt pouches for it.

Plan on participating for the whole event with your primary firearm.  If you would like to bring a second firearm in case your primary firearm malfunctions or proves unsuitable, you're welcome to do so; we can pause the event and participants to permit you to change firearms.

You may arrive with your firearm unloaded and cased; event staff will direct you where and when to uncase and transfer your firearm to your holster.

You may arrive with your firearm loaded and holstered, if you have a CPL and normally carry.  Event staff will direct you where and when to unload and reholster your firearm at the start of the event; we run a cold range, with firearms unloaded and holstered until you are on the firing line and instructed to load.

We run a COLD RANGE.

  • Do not touch or handle any gun until you are at the firing line and instructed to load.
  • All guns must be unloaded and holstered or cased unless you are on the firing line.
  • OK to handle and load magazines but do not insert into the gun.
